What is the Saturday Art Club?
Saturday Art Club gives you the opportunity to try your hand at a range of creative techniques. Our goal is to give you the opportunity to get involved in a subject you love, free of charge, at your local university. Previous projects have included; GIF creation, animation, photography, ceramics, sculpture, self-portraits, mask making, and more.
What will I do?
You’ll get the chance to try out loads of different activities and work with a wide range of materials. We have a really exciting programme lined up this year, including green screen video editing, dark room photograph developing, traditional photography, and much more! You’ll get to take part in masterclasses with professional artists, visit exhibitions and go on trips to Yorkshire and London see your own work on display in an art gallery!
Check out the official Saturday Art Club website for videos.
What’s in it for me?
From traditional to digital, you’ll be able to try your hand at a variety of different art forms through our free workshops and masterclasses. There are many benefits to taking part in Saturday Art Club: You’ll have access to our excellent Art & Design facilities, get to meet like-minded young people and make new friends. As well as having lots of fun, Saturday Art Club also looks great on your CV if you decide to apply to college or university later on. If you choose to take part in the Arts Award (optional), Saturday Art Club contributes towards that too. Read more about a previous masterclass with illustrator Zack Mclaughlin

“From the Art Club, we learnt a massive range of new exciting skills such as screen-printing, calligraphy and photography. Of course, we learnt a lot about different artistic techniques but during the trips to London and the galleries, we also learnt a lot more about the world of art and the growing creative industries. At Saturday Art Club I would say the freedom to experiment with different materials and stuff was probably the best part”
